SLD Maker

The RTO SLD (Speed Limiting Device) Maker module on the

Vahan portal is an online system designed for manufacturers and authorized Retro Fitment Centres (RFC) to upload, manage, and track Speed Limiting Devices installed in vehicles. It ensures compliance with road safety regulations by linking approved speed governors to specific vehicle registration numbers via a 16-digit unique identifier.

Key Aspects of the SLD Maker Portal:

  • Registration & Approval: Manufacturers apply through the portal to register their products, which must be type-approved by testing agencies (like ARAI or CIRT).
  • Inventory Management: Authorized manufacturers and RFCs upload inventory details, including unique SLD codes, serial numbers, and manufacturing dates, allowing RTOs to track device fitment.
  • Fitment Workflow: The system enables the digital upload of fitment letters (retrofitment) and generates receipts to verify that vehicles, particularly commercial ones, adhere to mandatory speed restrictions (e.g., 60 or 90 km/h).
  • Transparency & Compliance: The portal, part of the Parivahan Seva ecosystem, offers a transparent, paperless trail for managing vehicle speed governors, crucial for RTO compliance.

The system streamlines the process, allowing RTO officials to verify if a vehicle has a valid, authorized speed governor installed before providing registration or fitness certificates.
